The Center for Responsible AI consortium aims to establish Portugal as a global leader in ‘Responsible AI’ technologies, principles, and regulation. It plans to achieve this by developing 21 new AI products, standards, and recommendations for law and best practices in Responsible AI. Portugal has launched a national digital skills initiative, AI Portugal, to foster innovation and investment within the AI ecosystem. The initiative encompasses a comprehensive action plan that includes seven strategic vectors. The revision of the national AI strategy and the design of the national ‘Data and Web 3.0’ strategies commenced in 2023.
