Risk-averse lawyers approach ChatGPT cautiously

Thomson Reuters recent report highlighted the views of 443 legal professionals from midsize and large firms in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada on generative AI tools like ChatGPT including their understanding of the risks and benefits.

Awareness of generative AI tools like ChatGPT is high, but implementation and acceptance within law firms remain low. However as the legal landscape evolves and generative AI technologies mature, perspectives will change and as a corollary adoption rates increase.

Importantly the change will occur much more rapidly due to the exponential rate of technological advancements in AI. At this time, it’s important that legal professionals recognise this inevitable shift and embrace innovation and foster a culture of continuous learning.
