Australia: The risks and benefits of Artificial Intelligence in family law

There are many ways AI may prove to be beneficial in saving time and costs associated with a family law matter.

However, AI should not be considered as a substitute for legal advice. While it may be used to generate a draft precedent or checklist of the steps involved in

  • drafting a separation agreement
  • undertaking a property settlement
  • representing the respondent in a custody dispute

it is no substitute for a legal professional given the complex emotions that are often involved with family law matters.
