Claude, the AI chatbot developed by Anthropic, now offers a desktop application. You can download the Mac and Windows versions of the application for free from Anthropic’s official website.
Last week, Anthropic introduced its “computer use” feature in public beta, enabling the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model to interact with a computer by observing the screen, moving the cursor, clicking on buttons, and entering text. However, this functionality is not available in the app.
Moreover, Anthropic is expanding dictation support in Claude’s Android and iOS applications, allowing you to pose questions using your voice.
The desktop version of Claude is quite similar to the web version, as you can still easily ask questions, revisit previous chats, and see starred conversations. It’s simply much more convenient to start a conversation with Claude directly from your desktop instead of having to go to the website.
Other AI chatbots, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Perplexity’s AI search tool, already feature desktop applications, while Microsoft Copilot is integrated into Windows 11. Additionally, ChatGPT’s desktop app has recently included support for an advanced voice mode.
